A conceptual mock-up of a sewer cover to be placed in Overton Park, located in Memphis, TN. The idea of a seed sprouting through concrete represents the park's location, which is surrounded by cityscape. The metaphor is also symbolic of the parks history. On several occasions, the local park was scheduled to be demolished to make room for an interstate. The citizens of the area banded together and protested in order to save the park. Eventually, the park was officially designated as a protected area. Just like the plant sprouting through concrete, the people of Memphis successfully overcame the odds.
